The Hops & Glory organisation was joined by Dave Watson and in October 2008 the quartet bought The Moutere Inn, built in 1850 and believed to be the oldest pub in New Zealand.  The four partners are excited by the opportunity to run New Zealand’s oldest pub. 

The pub is now returning to its traditional position as a focal point of the Moutere community as well as provide a comfortable place for locals and visitors to enjoy great beer, wine, food and good company.

 In January 2010 Martin Townshend took the difficult decision to leave HOPS & GLORY in order to concentrate on his award winning Townshend Brewery.  The Moutere Inn will continue to showcase his range of real ales, wheat beers and lagers and we wish him all the best for the future.
